Fish quarantine is one big, singular factor that must be observed strictly before you can be sure that your new fish is of good health and not an apostle of doom for the other inmates. Most new fishkeepers don’t take consider this very important factor.

For the benefit of intending aquarists, quarantine in the fish world refers to the physical and chemical treatment of new fishes (either imported or caught from the wild) to rid them of disease and restlessness before introduction into a new environment,

A small quarantine tank (30x20x25cm) is advisable for any serious aquarist. The alternative is to be sure that your pet shop has a functional quarantine section to cater for bacterial, fungal and viral diseases.

Thus it’s necessary that you turn the flights out, and leave them overnight to get used to their new home first before thinking of feeding them. Then feed fish with aquarium fish food with fish flakes the next day, this will make the fish feel at home.

If you already have an established tank, it is advisable to quarantine new fish before adding them to an existing populated, and the cheapest way to do this is to purchase a plastic tank which will need no gravel or plants.

This can be used solely for quarantine and as a hospital tank.

Leave the fish in this tank for about three days during which any disease harbored by the fish would be evident for which it can be treated using available chemicals from your dealer. The fish can then be introduced into the tank in the same way as before.

When you add new fish to an established community, there will probably be a certain amount of harassment of the new arrivals by the original fish. Try to divert their attention by giving them a good feed when the fish are introduced.

As you know from our previous segment, the dealer must qualify for you to be paid on your raise wagers. Antes are always paid even money. Here's a handy listing of what raise wagers are paid when the dealer's hand rank is an Ace-King or better.

One Pair: paid even money. Ex: $10 is paid $10.

Two Pair: paid 2x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $20.

Three of a Kind: paid 3x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $30.

Straight: paid 4x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $40.

Flush: paid 5x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $50.

Full House: paid 7x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $70.

Four of a Kind: paid 20x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $200.

Straight Flush: paid 50x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $500.

Royal Flush: paid 100x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $1,000.

In the ancient historical accounts of the fruit of the apple tree, there appears to be an incomprehensible trail of evidence that no other fruit could match. The interest shown in apples by the Greek and Roman philosophers, poets, historians, and literary masters was even extended to Renaissance painters, royal chefs to the Tsars of Russia and too many other references to mention.

In colonial America, apple trees were grown and planted from seeds in orchards by William Blackstone at Boston, Massachusetts in the 1600’s. Early documents on file at the National Library in Washington, DC suggest that all land owners in Massachusetts had begun growing apple trees by the 1640’s.

William Bartram, the famous explorer and botanist, wrote in his book, Travels, “I observed, in a very thriving condition, two or three large apple trees” in 1773, while traveling near Mobile, Alabama. It is important to realize that these large apple trees found growing in Alabama in 1773 could very easily have been grown from the seed planted by Creek Indians. Those seed may have been obtained by the Indians from American colonists on the Eastern coast of the United States at a much earlier time or from French farmers who settles in areas of agricultural land grants north of Mobile. General Oglethorpe planned in 1733 to plant “various plants, subtropical and temperate, which might prove valuable for Georgian farms and orchards,” according to William Bartram in his book Travels, published 40 years later. William Bartram’s father, John Bartram, trip to “East Florida” (Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas) was, in part at least, an attempt to inventory the plant resources of England’s new acquisition—after expelling the Spanish from East Florida.

Many modern botanists believe that the improved apple that we know today descended from the crabapple that is commonly interplanted with apple trees for cross pollination. President Thomas Jefferson was planting and growing apple trees at his fruit tree orchard in Monticello, Virginia, in the early 1800’s.

The legendary Johnny Appleseed was responsible for the rapid development of the apple trees growing and planting when he established a nursery in the Midwest that sold both apple trees and seed to be planted for growing into trees in the 1800’s. Over 2000 cultivars of apple trees are listed as being grown today, many of the trees resulting from the huge apple seed dispersion that was begun by the memorable ambition of Johnny Appleseed to entirely cover the landscape of America with the fruit of apple trees.

Over the centuries, apple trees became susceptible to many disease problems such as fire blight; however, Dr. C. S. Crandall from the University of Illinois performed several backcrosses that involved modern cultivars and the apple tree ancestor ‘crabapple,’ Malus floribunda. The wild crabapple contained an immunity factor within its genetic composition towards all major bacterial and fungal diseases of apple trees. In 1989, researchers from the pomology department at Cornell University extracted an immune fire blight gene from a nocturnal moth and transplanted it into an apple fruit, resulting in the total defeat of fire blight in that particular apple tree cultivar.

Fruiting of apple trees is perhaps the most troublesome characteristic experienced by an orchardist or a backyard fruit tree gardener. Most cultivars of apple trees require cross pollination of two separate varieties in order to set fruit on the tree.

It is necessary that the blossoms of the two apple tree flowers develop pollen at the same time, in order that fruit will be set, which can be a tricky problem to correct. The simplist solution to pollinate apple trees is to use the ancestor of the modern day apple cultivars, the crabapple, which sheds its pollen over a long period of time and easily overlaps the apple tree cultivar flowering period. Crabapple trees produce a fruit that is much smaller than the common apple, but it can be used in cooking in various ways, and it is loved by wildlife in the fall and winter when wildlife food is scarce for animals and birds. Crabapple trees are also valuable when used as flowering trees that begin blooming in early spring with huge clusters of pink, white, and even red blossoms. What happens when you've been wronged by another and you want to move on? How do you let it go - get on with your life - and make sure it doesn't happen again?

The short answer is that you forgive yourself for attracting them into your life - so you don't have to continue to carry the burden around and so that you don't repeat the same experience with another person.

You forgive yourself for ALLOWING it to happen - not for causing it to happen.

Right now you may be in some sort of a mental prison. There may be a lot of resentment and other similar feelings. And what you're feeling now - the bitterness, the resentment, the anger, the hurt; WILL influence your future relationships.

Bitterness only leads to more bitterness. Hurt leads to more hurt.

Forgiveness is a way to clear out those old feelings from the past so you will be better able to believe in yourself and trust yourself. Not to mention you'll be wiser and more perceptive.

But are you responsible for what they did?

No, absolutely not. You don't forgive yourself to make them 'not guilty'. You created your reality and they created theirs.

And the realities overlapped.

A cheater is basically that way before you meet them.

A betrayer is a betrayer before they come into your life.

The question is - why did I attract someone like this into my life?

Of course you didn't KNOW they would cheat or betray you when you first met them. But then, maybe there were little hints and clues you ignored. I don't know.

The point is, you CHOSE to allow them into your life. You allowed it to happen.

That 'allowing' is your responsibility; something you can forgive yourself for.

The value of forgiving yourself is -

first of all, it's empowering to accept responsibility for YOUR contribution. Yes, I understand you were wronged. They engaged in hurtful behavior that was unjustified.

By forgiving yourself, you don't say their behavior was acceptable. On some level, they must 'pay' for what they did. But that's not your business. (I understand many try to make it their business!)

But you would be much more productive by dealing with YOUR contribution to these events. And not worrying about their contribution.

"They'll get theirs."

But look at the damage it does to YOU by not forgiving yourself.

Maybe you don't believe in yourself anymore.

Maybe you don't trust yourself to make good decisions.

Maybe your self-confidence is lacking.

Maybe you're carrying around a ton of pain.

And I would guess many other problems as well have come up because you've been wronged.

Forgiving yourself can heal the damage they caused.

Also, you don't let someone 'off the hook' by forgiving yourself for what they did.

YOU LET *YOU* OFF THE HOOK BY FORGIVING YOURSELF.

Sorry to shout, but I want to make that point clear. By forgiving yourself, you empower yourself. You free yourself from your own private prison of pain.

Forgiveness is a strength; it empowers you.

By not forgiving yourself, you are not honoring or respecting yourself. You're saying you don't matter.

Forgiveness creates freedom. Forgiveness is liberating. Forgiveness is a positive, pro-active decision. It's a deliberate choice from a position of power and responsibility.

It's an act of character and integrity. It takes courage. I admit it's not easy to be kicked by someone and then forgive YOURSELF for being kicked. Because, "It's not me - I didn't do this! It's THEM!! They're the bad ones!"

But finding your own contribution to being kicked is like finding a foothold to greater power and greater strength. You will become 'more' if you forgive yourself for being wronged.

It takes enormous courage to let go of the blame. So often we seek our strength in blame. We anchor to it. And the thing is, we really are justified to blame!

We really WERE wronged. Nobody would deny that. It's obvious.

But what I'm saying is to go beyond the obvious. If blame really did solve problems, what a wonderful world this would be!

But blame doesn't solve problems. In fact, it locks those problems in place.

The trap is, you really are justified in blaming. But if you do, it keeps those painful feelings in place. You can't grow and stretch and reach for more in life when you're blaming.

It's like putting your feelings in the freezer. And then you have to tote that freezer around with you every where you go.

Blame is like being seduced by a beautiful woman with a hidden agenda. You think she really does like you when all she wants is your money.

If you know her game, you can easily resist. If you turn a blind eye, you'll get taken.

You think blame is your friend, but really all it wants is your power. You must give up your power to blame.

I know it doesn't seem that way, because we always get a cheap hit of power when we blame. But it never lasts.

It's like spending on credit. There's no problem until the payment comes due!

But to me, the biggest benefit of forgiving myself for being wronged by another is that it helps to ensure that it doesn't happen again. "I've suffered enough. I don't want to go through the same situation again."

But if I don't forgive, then most likely I WILL repeat the same mistakes again. Or else, I'll try not to love anyone else for the rest of my life. Which is almost impossible.

More likely, since I haven't explored the reasons WHY I created a hurtful person into my life, I'll create another hurtful person into my life.

Then I'll have to go through the same pain again.

Just thinking about that is depressing!

You want to live a better life, not repeat the pain of the past.

Forgiveness helps to make things better. So next time, you'll have a better chance of finding someone who'll treat you with respect.

Because you respected yourself enough to forgive YOURSELF for what THEY did.

You forgave yourself for YOUR contribution; because you played a part in what happened.

You are not a spectator in your life.

You're not a helpless victim.

You created what happened.

Not by causing, but by allowing.

You allowed another to hurt you.

Now, you will turn it into something good by changing yourself.

And the way to change is by recognizing what happened, feeling the impact of what happened, and forgiving yourself for why you let it happen in your life.

And later, if you choose to forgive them as well, that's great. But always forgive yourself first - as an acknowledgement to yourself that YOU are in charge of your life - not them.

Why didn't they go ruin someone else's life instead of trying to ruin yours? You may never know.

But the fact is, you let them in, they betrayed you, and now you're left to pick up the pieces.

Okay, you will.

You'll be a winner. You'll take their sucker punch to your gut, and you'll become a better person. Not a bitter, beaten loser. You'll take the pain they tried to dump on you and use it to become strong and powerful.

You'll find the good in their act of wrongness.

While they will in all likelihood continue to be a punishing person.

Maybe someday you'll forgive them for their misdeeds, but for now you're ready to grow and heal and move on.

Jackie Robinson transcended the color barrier in major league baseball and became a hero for humanity. He was an icon for civil rights and helped lead the way for other ballplayers. A true inspiration to us all. An example of bravery and courage. Baseball was simply a vehicle for Jackie Robinson to bring light to the problems of racism in a time when racism was high.

Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in the major leagues in 1947. He was a leader and knew the hardships that would follow. He exhibited extreme bravery and it took a man of Jackie's magnitude to handle all the problems that followed. He was so important to civil rights and helped lead the way for others to follow. An above and beyond leader whose number 42 will never ever be worn again in any major league park.

Having Jackie Robinson debut with the Brookly Dodgers in 1947 was one of the greatest civil rights moments in our history. It was made possible by Branch Rickey who served as the club president and general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was wonderful that Jackie got his chance to play in major league baseball, and it was a tragedy that the fiber of America during that time was so full of racism.

It has taken a man of Jackie's temperament and courage to help change the ugly face of racism in America. Mr. Robinson was a man of a fiery temperament who was asked to stay calm during his first couple of years and handle the pressure. I don't believe any other man could have handled the pressure. And because of his courage and bravery and willingness to stand tall, barriers have been brought down and continue to do so.

It is for these reasons that Jackie Robinson should be so honored. His jersey's number will never ever be worn again. He is an example of others to follow and in his words he stated: "I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me... all I ask is that you respect me as a human being."

Jackie Robinson will always be a true civil rights hero who just happened to play baseball. Let's not forget the contributions this great man made to humanity. He is an example for all human beings to follow, not just in baseball, but also in life. He made it possible for Arican Americans to cross the color barrier in all sports by leading by example. He had to endure the constant badgering and humiliation at every game. He was cursed at, sneered at, and spit at. He had objects thrown at him on the field. He couldn't go into some places because of his color. But Jackie Robinson held his head high, put one foot in front of the other, and walked proudly. Leaving behind a path for all of us to follow. There has never been a better example of the phrase, "actions speak louder then words". While Jackie was being verbally abused and spit at, he carried on with his actions. He was a leader on and off the field. A true icon who stood for equal rights, the chance to play ball, and for humanity. We salute you Jackie Robinson.

My favourite hobby snow boarding

Since moving into the suburbs, I have developed a new hobby: snow boarding. Snow boarding is great fun, and the reason I got started is because I used to go surfing when I lived by the beach, and when I moved away from the coast I had to find something new to satisfy my fix for extreme, white-knuckle sport. When I moved to my new college, everyone was talking about snow boarding, and a lot of my peers considered snow boarding an excellent hobby. When they asked if I wanted to attend, I was more than happy to come along and take part.

The next thing I knew I was at the slopes, and I had to let everyone know that I had absolutely no experience of the sport whatsoever. They appeared to understand, and everyone was really helpful when it came to explaining how to get started. In fact, there were so many people trying to teach me what to do, I actually found that I would rather just one person would teach me at a time. The next thing I knew, I was going down the slope, and had no idea how to break appropriately, or how to turn. OK, so I'll admit that getting tuition from a bunch of teenagers was hardly the best idea, but it ensured that I didn't hold back on anything, and I certainly got off to a flying start. The fact is that you realise it is mostly just common sense, and the thrills that you get are amazing. When you are going down a slope at 30 miles an hour and you do not have to put in any effort to accelerate: that is like flying.

The fact is that I also enjoy snow boarding because it is a great social activity for everyone to enjoy. I had just moved to a new area, and snow boarding really gave me an opportunity to get to know people, and is actually the reason why I am friends with the people that I hang around with at the moment. After visiting the slopes a few times, my new friends and I have discovered more common ground, so now we enjoy other activities together, along with the occasional visit to the slopes of course! I'd recommend snowboarding as a great hobby for anyone, particularly those with a passion for extreme sports, or anyone with a sense of adventure. And it's really great when you actually get involved - there's a whole culture attached to it.

Some of my friends suggested taking up skiing, but this is something I think I'll avoid. It is almost like trying to compare a car and a motor bike. A car maybe burns less gas, it may be safer and may even turn corners with more precision, but what would you rather travel in for sheer thrills? Skiing just looks boring compared to snow boarding and the more I get into snow boarding the more my opinion is re-affirmed.

I am glad that I moved away, and I am glad that I managed to find a sport that I enjoy more than surfing. I am hoping to start entering into competitions soon, however I have a lot of catching up to do with my new friends first!

Beds are plainly the first furnishing one should have in a bed room. Beds are purchasable in different sizes. There are twin, full, king, and queen size beds. With the numerous sizes, one does not have to be controlled in determining the exact type of bed for their room. Beds are also made either of fine-grade wood or alloy.

Since it is the feature of the bedroom, beds must be given decent importance and decoration. You want to dress it up with the best and most dashing cloth, since it is the most salient thing that you will see when you move into the bedroom.

One of the more frequent items owners put in to emphasize their beds is the bed cloth. Bed linens put a feeling of quality and class in any sort of bed. Bed linens can be developed out of cotton, silk, polyester, and linen which is considered the most expensive. Linen sheets are effective for hot climates because they tend to cool, and they can also last for a long time. On the other hand cotton sheets are good for any type of season, and they are considered a toughened fabric. These sheets should be washed through machines on a warm setting, bleached only using non chlorinated bleach as specified by washing instructions. Vintage linens then must be hand washed in warm water using mild soap.

You should also consider the placement of the bed in your room. Situate the bed against the middle part of the wall, or opposite the entrance to the room. This makes the headboard the focal point of the room once one enters the room. If you cannot place the bed against the middle portion of the wall, then place it on the part of the wall which is sufficiently extended and spacious to contain the bed.

There are also limitations in placing the bed. You cannot just place it anywhere you wish. Specifically, you cannot place the bed under a window, especially if the window will be opened frequently. A bed under two windows is more feasible.

To complement the look of the bed, you can put some essential pieces of bedroom furniture such as dressers, cabinets, and night stands. Other bedrooms host chairs, loveseats, and benches where one can place extra linen and clothes, and of course, provide a nice place for guests to sit.

In choosing a bed, avoid shopping online as much as possible. You need to try the bed yourself in order to appreciate how it feels lying on it. One of the best ways to determine the right texture of the bed is to place a hand on your back and try to move it while lying. If the hand can move easily then it means the bed is too hard. If you are having a difficult time moving your hand, the bed is soft. If your hand can move with little resistance then the bed is good enough for your comfort.

In buying a bed, do not hesitate to spend. You need to pay more in order to have a more quality item. People tend to be tightfisted on buying bedroom furniture and accessories, believing that they can settle on less expensive materials. But in reality what they are getting is a poor quality bed. So if you have some space in your budget to afford another thousand of dollars or two, then do so! You will be benefiting from a more durable and stylish bed in the long run.

You also have to take into consideration the space that the bed will take up in the room. Beds should not eat half of the bedroom. Fitting Your Boots

Filing Bankruptcy - Final Solution

If your credit is already gone or one of the above isn't an option, go through Consumer Credit Counseling Services. Check your yellow pages for the local number. In this way you're paying off your debts as if you were in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, but you don't file a bankruptcy.

If CCCS won't take you, you may want to consider bankruptcy. Filing a Chapter 13 takes longer, but your credit is in a little better standing than if you file a Chapter 7. In Chapter 13 you are given up to 5 years to pay off your debts. The disadvantage is that you're in bankruptcy for up to 5 years plus your credit report shows your bankruptcy for 7 more years after you have finished paying off your debts.

If you are so far in debt that you can never repay it, then the best solution may be a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Chapter 7 is the least desirable credit wise, but you are typically out of bankruptcy in 6 months and you don't have to repay any debt.

Disadvantages of Filing Bankruptcy

The disadvantage is that this shows on your credit report for 10 years from the date of filing your bankruptcy, and creditors are starting to tighten their credit requirements, and you may have a tough time getting future financing. Depending upon how complicated your financial situation is, you may want to consult a lawyer before proceeding.

There is no magic solution. Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise.
